According to research from realtor.com®, this April will be bringing more than May flowers. It also marks the BEST TIME to list a home for sale.
Realtor.com’s® research team looked at data for the past 6 years and determined that nationwide, the ideal time to list a home this year will be the week of April 14th, 2024. According to that same study, they project the ideal time to list a home on the Peninsula will be the week of April 21st.
What makes that week the best time to list your home for sale? This “peak week” is expected to bring:
Above-average prices - If this year follows previous trends, the average list price will be 6.8% higher than at the start of the year across Hampton Roads.
Above-average buyer demand - Homes listed for sale on the Peninsula are expected to get 20.9% more views than homes listed on an average week.
Fast market pace - Increased buyer demand is expected to result in less time spent on the market. Here on the Peninsula, realtor.com® is forecasting that Days on Market will be 9 days less than in an average week.
In addition, if these projections hold true, Peninsula sellers may also experience less competition, as historically there are fewer homes listed at that time, and less risk of a market-induced price reductions.
